This ministry is dedicated to ensuring that the sick and home-bound have the opportunity to partake of the Lord's Supper if they so desire.
Since 2001, we have visited the Athens Convalescence Center and Limestone Health Facility on a weekly basis and have visited a number of Family members while they have been in the Hospital or sick at home. This ministry allows for those who are unable to attend worship services to stay connected to their church family, but more importantly to commune with God and to remember the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus. It has been a blessing to both those who receive the communion and those who serve.
If you or someone you know, will not be able to attend the Worship service, due to illness, please send an email with the following information:

3. Location (please include the room number if in Hospital or Nursing Home)

The youth ministry at the Central Church of Christ exists for only one reason: to make disciples who are capable of making other disciples. We believe that being a disciple of Jesus means loving God, loving each other, and serving the world. Our students are challenged to take ownership of their faith, not just accept something that has been handed to them. They are expected to make it their own and strive in these three areas every week by participating in each step of our discipleship process.
Love God
To love God means to understand who he is and what he has done for us. Jesus explained in John 8 that after continuing in His teachings, a person could "know the truth and the truth will set you free." He then made a bold claim in John 14:6 by saying "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life". So to know Jesus/ His teachings is to know the truth, or put another way, is to know God. The CYM accomplishes this through praise, prayer, and study on Sunday mornings during both congregational worship and Illuminate (our youth program on Sunday mornings).
Love Each Other
Once a relationship is developed with God, the next step is to love His other children. Paul told the Romans that "the Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ" (Romans 8:16-17). If God has adopted us (v. 15), then we are all brothers and sisters, belonging to the same family. As a family, we not only share companionship as siblings, but we also posses the unique qualities of a royal blood line as heirs to God's kingdom. That uniqueness is something that we only share with other Christians, and so we depend on them to understand (as no one else can) where we want to go, how we want to get there, and what might cause us to stumble along the way. To help each other, we must first love each other and we come to love one another on Wednesday nights through our small group discussions.
Serve The World
James pointed out that a knowledge of God and even an knowledge of those around us does no good unless that knowledge produces action. He reasoned, "But someone may well say, 'You have faith and I have works; show me your faith without the works, and I will show you my faith by my works'" (James 2:18). James went on to say that even the demons believe in God, but that belief does not accomplish anything if it is not strong enough to generate good deeds. We hope to show people in the Athens area who God is through our service to them on Sunday afternoons and throughout the week.

LADIES' RETREATS
The Ladies’ Retreat is for Central Ladies and their guests! Committees for each retreat are selected based on feedback and interest. Efforts are made to involve Central women of all ages and stages of life in the planning and activities of the retreat event.
LADIES’ NIGHT OUT
Special activities for ladies are planned from time-to-time during the year such as prayer nights, theme parties, game nights, dinner out, scrapbook workshops, etc. We welcome ideas for these times of fellowship and spiritual bonding.
SECRET SISTERS
All Central Ladies are invited to participate in Secret Sisters, an annual program of mutual encouragement and support. Small gestures are exchanged monthly on an anonymous basis.
A dinner is held the first of December (open to all ladies) to reveal Secret Sister identities.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT LADIES' CLASS
Study of the Bible, opportunities for fellowship and a time of sharing with prayer.
THE WELCOMING TOUCH
A ministry of encouragement designed to help each new lady feel truly welcome and needed and information about the Ladies’ Ministry.
CARING CARDS
A ministry of encouragement for illness, absences or any opportunity to let Central Ladies know they are special and appreciated.
PRAYER BREAKFAST
A time for all Central Ladies to experience spiritual fellowship and prayer.
LADIES' MINISTRY BULLETIN BOARD
A means of advertising activities, to encourage participation and provide information for all church family members.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH
A new program is starting to show local health care givers, teachers, etc, how appreciated they are and to encourage their spiritual growth. Treats to be delivered once monthly. More outreach programs announced as planned.
FOOD COMMITTEE
When a need arises, whether due to illnesses, loss of close one, etc. Groups are organized to help provide meals for those in need.
